(Montgomery, AL) – The Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) will postpone the Inaugural MGM Runway 5K to a future date in Spring 2023. Due to the ongoing construction projects, the taxiway closures will affect the course of the race.
MGM race organizers have determined the race will be held sometime in the month of April. All previously registered racers prior to October 19, 2022, will automatically roll over into the 2023 race and will receive entry into the MGM Airline raffle, and an upgraded VIP status.
“The safe race experience must be a pleasant one for all runners and ongoing construction would significantly impact that experience. Participant safety and airport standards are paramount to MGM operations,” said Wade A. Davis, Executive Director of MGM. “We apologize for the inconvenience, and we look forward to a great event in the spring.”
MGM is thankful for the River Region community and the support and engagement received, as MGM has reached the halfway participation capacity for the inaugural race. We cannot wait to exceed our expectations with additional planning time and sponsorship opportunities.
Montgomery Regional Airport offers non-stop flights to Atlanta, Georgia (ATL); Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT); Dallas, Texas (DFW), and Washington, D.C. (DCA). MGM currently serves the region with daily flights by American and Delta Airlines. For more information on the airport, visit flymgm.com.
