MGM Director Named “Mover and Shaper” by Business Alabama Magazine
Taggart Recognized for His Contributions to Montgomery’s Economy and His Esteemed Resume

(Montgomery, AL) – Marshall J. Taggart, Jr., executive airport director of the Montgomery Regional
Airport (MGM), has been recognized as a “Mover and Shaper” in the city of Montgomery by
Business Alabama Magazine. Business Alabama covers large and small business throughout the
state and across sectors, from the State House to main street. Taggart was recognized for his work
as airport director of MGM, a major employer and key contributor to Montgomery’s economy.

“I am honored to be recognized by Business Alabama for the work MGM has done for the broader
Montgomery community,” Taggart said. “I believe that a thriving, accessible airport is vital to the
ongoing economic vitality of our region, and I am proud of the work we have done to ensure that
Montgomery Regional Airport continues to be a robust and equitable employer, despite the
unprecedented challenges our city and nation have faced over the past year. Our airport is the first
and last thing many travelers will see of Montgomery. I am proud that it has been—and will
continue to be—a source of great pride.”

Taggart was recognized alongside prominent members of the business community; leadership in
higher education; and prominent politicians, including Steven Reed, Montgomery’s first African-American mayor.

Taggart, a graduate of Clark Atlanta University, earned a bachelor’s in accounting and master’s
degree in public administration. He is completing a doctorate in political science. With two
decades of management experience, he also is a 2008 graduate of the National Forum for Black
Public Administrators (NFBPA) Executive Leadership Program; and received NFBPA’s Steven. E.
Ford-Young Public Administrator of the Year Award in 2007. He serves on the boards of the
Airport Minority Advisory Council, Aviation Council of Alabama and the Montgomery Chamber
Committee of 100. He is a certified member of the American Association of Airport Executives
(AAAE).

Montgomery Regional Airport continues to be a high-performance organization. MGM offers non-stop flights to Atlanta, Georgia (ATL); Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT); and Dallas, Texas (DFW).
MGM currently serves the region with four daily flights by American and five daily flights by Delta.
