Montgomery, AL – The magic of the holiday season is taking flight once again at Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) as Santa Claus trades in his sleigh for an airplane during the airport’s annual Santa Fly-In on Saturday, December 13, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Families, children, and holiday travelers are invited to gather inside the MGM terminal to welcome Santa as he arrives directly on the airfield, making a special stop in Montgomery before his Christmas Eve journey around the world. After landing, Santa will join guests in the terminal for free photos, treats, and festive fun.
“We love being able to bring the community together and watch the excitement on children’s faces when Santa steps off an aircraft,” said Brittney Jones-Dabney, Communications & Marketing Manager at MGM Airport. “The Santa Fly-In is a new special MGM tradition that allows us to celebrate the season with the families we serve and the passengers who choose to fly local.”
In addition to Santa’s arrival, guests can explore the airport’s Community of Christmas Trees, a holiday display featuring more than a dozen beautifully decorated trees created by local schools, nonprofits, and businesses. Voting will open to the public on December 13 allowing travelers and visitors to select their favorite display throughout the holiday season.
This event is free and open to the public. Guests planning to attend are encouraged to arrive early to allow time for parking and wayfinding. Airport personnel will be on-site to help direct families to the event area.
