What: As the May 7, 2025, federal REAL ID deadline rapidly approaches, Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) is hosting a press event titled “Ready for REAL ID: Countdown to Compliance.” This event aims to educate and remind Alabama travelers of the importance of obtaining a REAL ID to ensure uninterrupted access to air travel and federal facilities. Both agencies, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), will be present to answer questions related to the upcoming federal enforcement deadline for REAL ID and how travelers can ensure they are compliant.

Why: Beginning May 7, 2025, every air traveler 18 years of age and older will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another acceptable form of identification to fly within the United States. Passports are required for international travel and are considered compliant forms of REAL ID. This press event is part of MGM’s commitment to ensuring travelers are well-informed and prepared for the upcoming deadline.
