Montgomery, Ala. – On Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) will conduct a full-scale emergency plan exercise in partnership with local, state, and federal emergency response agencies.
This federally required drill, mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) every three years, is designed to evaluate the airport’s emergency preparedness and response procedures. The exercise will simulate a large-scale aircraft incident and allow MGM, first responders, and mutual aid agencies to test coordination, communication, and resource deployment in a realistic, controlled environment.
“Safety is always our top priority,” said Loyd Jenkins, Interim Executive Director and Chief of Police. “Exercises like this ensure that our airport team and emergency partners are prepared to respond quickly and effectively should a real emergency ever occur. Training together strengthens our readiness and ultimately enhances the safety of our passengers and community.”
The public and passengers should not be alarmed by the presence of emergency vehicles or response activity at and around the airport during the exercise. Normal airport operations will not be disrupted.
Media are invited to observe portions of the exercise and will have access to a designated media staging area.
