Montgomery Regional Airport Shows Strong Start in 2019
February Showed More Than 28% Increase in Travel Compared to Last Year
(Montgomery, Alabama) – Traffic is on the rise at the Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) as passenger numbers continue to increase. In the first two months of this year, MGM served a total of 55,167 passengers, up 28.2% from the number of passengers served during the same period in 2018.
Earlier this year, the Montgomery Airport Authority announced an 11% year-over-year increase in total passengers from 2017 to 2018. Of the most recent data gains, Montgomery Airport Authority Chair Tammy Knight Fleming remarked, “It is certainly encouraging to see this calendar year start with strong growth. Our goal is to continue this trend. More travelers means MGM becomes more competitive in pursuing opportunities to increase seats, flights and ultimately destinations for the region.”
MGM remains successful in meeting the consumer demand for an increase in seats. Carrier operations at the airport also improved in February by 20.8%, calendar year-to-date. This increase was bolstered by the number of passengers utilizing seats added in 2018 for new flights on existing routes and to new destinations.
Montgomery Regional Airport currently offers flights to Atlanta, Georgia (ATL); Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT); Dallas, Texas (DFW); Orlando/Sanford, Florida (SFB); and Washington, D.C. (DCA). MGM serves the region with daily flights by American and Delta and seasonal service by Via. For more information on the airport, visit flymgm.com.
