Montgomery, AL – At approximately 8:00 a.m. this morning, Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) received a bomb threat. In accordance with standard safety protocols, airport authorities, law enforcement and emergency services were notified.
Out of an abundance of caution, specific sections of the terminal were cordoned off while a comprehensive sweep of the facility was performed. Following full inspection, the airport has been cleared of any threat and deemed safe for public use.
“The safety of our passengers and staff is our absolute priority,” said Chief Loyd Jenkins, interim executive director of Montgomery Regional Airport. “We are grateful for the rapid response of airport staff and our first responders who ensured the facility was cleared quickly and safely.”
The Montgomery Regional Airport has officially resumed normal operations. While flights are beginning to depart and arrive as scheduled, passengers are encouraged to check their flight status directly with their airline for any potential residual delays.
The origin of the threat is currently under investigation by law enforcement. No further details are available at this time.
