Montgomery, AL – Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) is proud to celebrate Ted White, a valued team member, who has recently achieved the prestigious Certified Member (CM) accreditation through the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE). This accomplishment reflects not only Ted’s personal commitment to growth, but also the continued development and strength of the MGM Airport team.
The CM accreditation is a major milestone for White, who began his professional journey in the blue-collar industry. His achievement underscores a career built on drive, determination, and a passion for learning.
“Earning my CM accreditation means I’ve pushed myself mentally to be a better airport employee, team member, and connection,” said White. “The week-long condensed training was intense—from the moment we woke up to when we went to sleep, it was all things CM. This sets me up for the next chapter in my career.”
White was motivated by a mindset of continuous improvement and a refusal to accept limits. “There comes a time in everyone’s career where you might feel stuck—but I don’t subscribe to that. There’s always room for more—more development, more learning, more opportunity.”
As MGM continues to grow through transformative projects and a bold 10-year vision, White’s certification positions him to support that upward trajectory.
“Staying stagnant is not an option in this industry. I want to continue to take off with the airport as we reach for brighter horizons,” he said.
The certification process was both challenging and rewarding. Covering topics including safety, environmental responsibility, and aviation management, the CM program expanded White’s knowledge beyond his daily role.
“The most rewarding part was finding out I passed. All the studying, the late nights, the questions, it was all worth it. I set a goal and went for it. It’s an exhilarating feeling.”
White also encourages other aviation professionals to pursue their CM, sharing his personal advice: follow the three S’s—Study, Shadow, and Sign Up. “Form study groups, shadow leaders from other departments, and attend trainings like the Loretta Scott A.A.E. Accreditation/Certification Academy. Each step brings you closer to your goal.”
Looking ahead, White is focused on his long-term ambition—to become an Airport Director. His commitment to building foundational knowledge across departments, paired with his passion for people and process, makes that goal well within reach.
“Airport development begins from the ground up. Every department plays a critical role in making an airport operate smoothly. Learning from those around me has only deepened my desire to grow in this industry.”
