Montgomery, Ala. – Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) is enhancing the travel experience for passengers with a significant renovation to its baggage claim area, scheduled to begin this summer. The $5 million project, funded through the Airport Terminal Program (ATP) grant, will introduce a more modern, efficient, and passenger-friendly environment for baggage retrieval.
Over the next 18 months, the airport will replace the existing baggage claim with two new, state-of-the-art baggage systems designed to improve speed and reliability. The upgrade will include:
- Installation of two new modern baggage claim conveyor systems to enhance the baggage handling process and reduce wait times for arriving passengers.
- Creation of new car rental customer counters and offices to modernize the car rental experience.
- Additional terminal aesthetic and functional improvements to better welcome arriving passengers to the Montgomery Regional Airport.
“This investment is a significant milestone for MGM,” said Loyd Jenkins, MGM Airport Police Chief and Interim Airport Director. “Our goal is to continue improving the customer journey from arrival to departure, and this baggage claim renovation is a vital part of that commitment.”
