Airport Prepares for Annual Deep Cleaning Campaign on March 13
MGM Marks One-Year Anniversary of Operation Clean Sweep
(Montgomery, AL) – As spring approaches, the Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) will
complete its annual deep-cleaning campaign on Saturday, March 13.
Operation Clean Sweep was launched in March 2020, just prior to confirmation of the first COVID-19 case in Alabama. In the year that followed, MGM implemented a comprehensive, continuous
cleaning and sanitization program to keep travelers and airport staff safe during the pandemic.
Now, airport leaders are seeing clear signs that consumers’ confidence in safe air travel is
returning.
“The airport is preparing for an uptick in travel as spring break and the summer months approach.
As with last year, we will partner with the Cintas Corporation in order to assist us in leading this
effort,” said Marshall J. Taggart, Jr, C.M., executive airport director.
“We also have the return of our same-day, direct flights to Washington, D.C. just around the corner
in April. So, traffic through MGM is increasing each day. Today, we are as committed to
maintaining a healthy, hygienic environment as we were one year ago when Operation Clean
Sweep was announced. It takes every member of our team to keep this airport safe.”
All MGM team members and volunteers from airport partners will gather at the airport on
Saturday to clean all contact surfaces in public areas. A team from the Cintas Corporation will also
be on hand.
MGM is committed to delivering a world-class customer experience. Montgomery Regional Airport
offers non-stop flights to Atlanta, Georgia (ATL); Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT); and Dallas, Texas
(DFW). MGM currently serves the region with four daily flights by American and five daily flights by
Delta. For more information on the airport, visit flymgm.com.
